Prologue[]
Pecorine encounters a monster

Pecorine faces a Rock Golem.

After talking a relaxing bath near a waterfall, Eustiana dresses herself up but as she puts on her tiara, a Rock Golem suddenly rises in front of her and attacks. Very quickly, she is able to dispatch the monster with one swing of her sword, however, the act causes her stomach to growl, with Eustiana voicing out how hungry she is.

While trekking through the woods, she comes across a pair of strangers whose food she very quickly helps herself to. The strangers introduce themselves as Yuuki and Kokkoro, with the latter perplexed at Eustiana eating their food, with both giving her the nickname "Pecorine" over it. Eustiana takes a shine to the nickname she is given and decides to adopt it from now on. Just then, they hear a girl crying for help who is being chased by monsters. Pecorine and the others help the girl, who introduces herself Yui, fend off the monsters successfully, but they find another girl, a beastfolk, knocked unconscious nearby as more monsters appear. Pecorine and the group decide to work together to get out of the woods and reach Landosol. After escaping, she parts ways with Yuuki, Kokkoro and Yui, with Yuuki and Kokkoro taking the beastfolk girl to the nearby clinic. During the first month, Pecorine meets Yuuki again at a restaurant she works part-time in and invites him to eat with her as her way of paying him back for letting her eat their food when they first met, allowing the two to properly become friends.

Chapter 4: Pastures in Peril[]
Pecorine in action

Pecorine fighting monsters attacking Elizabeth Park's farm.

Months later, Pecorine is able to form a guild of her with Yuuki's help which they named the Gourmet Guild, having Kokkoro and the beastfolk girl, Karyl, be the other members. While out in the woods, Pecorine comes across Yuuki, who had accepted a job to hunt monsters. She is given a bag of cookies when Yuuki learns she is starving and the two talk, with Pecorine revealing that she intends to go back out on the road to continue her journey, saying that it is tradition for her family. In exchange for the cookies Yuuki gave her, Pecorine offers to accompany him in hunting monsters, which he accepts. Just then, the pair hear a girl crying for help. The two look back and find a beastfolk girl, who Yuuki recognizes as Rin being chased by a group of monsters, who then asks for their help. After defeating the monsters, Pecorine and Yuuki learn from Rin that her guild's farm, Elizabeth Park, is under attack by rampaging monsters and she was out to look for help. Pecorine and Yuuki decide to go with her to help.

Reaching the outskirts of the farm, Pecorine and Yuuki are shocked to see the chaos unfolding before them. She suggest that Yuuki and Rin go to Landosol and get people to help while she takes care of the situation alone, but neither Yuuki or Rin are willing to leave her by herself and decide to fight with her. Hearing this, the trio decide to go and save the members of Elizabeth Park, with Pecorine taking the lead and taking down any monsters that block their path. While charging through the horde, they notice smoke coming from the barn which Rin identifies as a distress signal and so they head there. Making it past every monster in their way, they open the barn and find Lima hiding inside. At that moment, Elizabeth Park's Guild Master, Mahiru meets up with them along with another member, Shiori. Pecorine decides to lure the monsters away towards the woods by herself, and tells Yuuki to go with Mahiru and the others to escape as she can't protect them all if they try to follow her. Pecorine then lures all of the other monsters' attention towards her while Yuuki and the members of Elizabeth Park escape the farm without her. After having the monsters chase her and losing them, Pecorine traverses the woods alone, unaware that she is being targeted by Karyl and a woman named Christina Morgan to be assassinated. The latter then takes over when Karyl hesitates, showing up in front of Pecorine and engaging her in a fight.

Chapter 5: The Seven Crowns[]
Yuuki and Pecorine

Pecorine successfully saves Yuuki from his fall.

Come nightfall, Pecorine is trying to run away from Christina, who is relentlessly pursuing her and knows her identity. Pecorine decides to retaliate, but quickly retreats again. She is able to talk Christina down for a moment to stop chasing after her, but just before they can talk, Pecorine notices a twinkle in the sky and sees Yuuki freefalling. At first Pecorine doesn't realize the situation, when she notices that Yuuki will die if he hits the ground at that height and speed, she quickly runs off to go and save him. Dashing through the forest and pushing her Royal Equipment's limit to its maximum output, Pecorine dives forward and successfully catches Yuuki mere inches before he hits the ground.

Pecorine then asks Yuuki if he is alright and tells him not to worry, smiling as she realizes that their situation is backwards. After helping Yuuki to his feet, Christina catches up to them. The trio are joined by two other people, Muimi and Rajiraji. Before anyone can explain anything to each other, Pecorine and the others are alerted of a dangerous presence hovering over them. There, they find a beastfolk woman looking down at them all who Pecorine recognizes as the woman who stole her identity, "Eustiana von Astraea". "Eustiana" is surprised to see Pecorine along with the others, but is nonetheless happy with what she sees. Pecorine and the others learn that "Eustiana" plans to kill all of them, having lured them all in one spot to do so, shocking Christina, who was loyal to her. The group are then joined by a woman who introduces herself as Labyrista, who had been searching for Yuuki. At that moment, "Eustiana" fires a battalion-level spell at the whole group, with Pecorine bracing for impact as they are hit and the mountains surrounding them crumble from the attack.

Chapter 6: Forgotten Princess[]

A short time after the attack, Pecorine is found sleeping next to Yuuki at Sarendia Orphanage by Kokkoro, who had just returned from a trip to a temple. Sarendia Orphanage's maid, Suzume, finds the three sleeping together and very quickly demands they all wake up and explain themselves.

Pecorine revealing her true identity to her friends.

At morning, Pecorine prepares breakfast for everyone in the orphanage, her cooking wowing Ayane and Kurumi. When asked by Suzume how she and Yuuki got back to the orphanage, Pecorine explains the situation, but neither she nor Yuuki know exactly how they survived the incident last night. Knowing that she has now gotten her friends and the people in the orphanage caught up in her dilemma, Pecorine reveals her true identity: she is the royal heir to the kingdom of Landosol, Princess Eustiana von Astraea. Pecorine adds that the person currently sitting on the throne is a fake. She learns that Yuuki recognizes who the fake Eustiana is and that the two had a conversation, with Pecorine asking him to tell her what they discussed later. When she decides to leave to endanger her friends, she allows Yuuki and Kokkoro to accompany her when the former insists on helping her, their first order of business is to meet up with Saren. They reach where Elizabeth Park had set camp, but find nobody around except for a girl named Matsuri. Pecorine and the others learn that the guild and others had gone back to the farm to help with the rebuilding effort, but get into a misunderstanding with Matsuri, who believes they are bad people, the situation getting worse when a knight named Tomo fights her.

Pecorine faces Tomo before their fight.

Pecorine is surprised when Tomo is able to keep up with her by sheer skill alone. The fight ends when Tomo notices Yuuki, a person of interest within Nightmare, and they get more information from Tomo. Pecorine and the others are taken to the farm by Tomo and Matsuri. Upon getting there, Pecorine and her group part ways with Tomo and Matsuri, who still have to go on supply runs to help with Elizabeth Park's rebuilding effort. Pecorine learns from Tomo that Christina had been thrown in jail and that the Royal Castle is short-staffed due to her rampage. She and the others are warned by Tomo not to try anything suspicious or they will battle again. Pecorine then asks Yuuki what they should do next and they decide to go find Saren and the Elizabeth Park members. At that moment, they reunite with Lima, who is happy to see her and Yuuki are safe. After briefly reuniting with Shiori and Rin, she and the others eventually meet up with Saren, who is working with members of Mercurius Foundation. When monsters suddenly attack the premise, Pecorine volunteers to assist in dealing with them along with Yuuki and the rest.

Chapter 7: Calamity Foretold[]

After dealing with the monster horde, Pecorine assists in the rebuilding efforts while Yuuki and Kokkoro go with Shiori to visit the nearby Elf Village. When they return, she and the others learn that the Elf Village had prepared for the attack as they were forewarned by someone. Pecorine and the rest decide to go find this fortune-teller and ask for their assistance whilst Mana is in a weakened state, returning to the orphanage with Saren.

The next day, she, Yuuki and Kokkoro head in to town to search for this fortune-teller with the help of two guides Yuuki had asked assistance from. While walking, Pecorine and the others become concerned for Karyl as they haven't gotten in contact with her for a while, with Pecorine worrying for her safety after learning from Yuuki that Karyl served Mana, hoping to share a meal with her again. They later come across demonfolk twins who Yuuki recognizes as Yori and Akari and are revealed to be their guide to their friend Shinobu, the fortune-teller they are seeking. Pecorine and the others are taken to a castle owned by Yori and Akari's guild, Diabolos, where they meet Shinobu, Miyako and their Guild Master, Ilya. After helping calm Miyako down by making pudding, Pecorine and the others discuss with Shinobu about her powers. She and the others learn that what she did wasn't true foresight, but rather simple fortune-telling, unlike what they had witnessed Mana do. She hears from Shinobu two possibilities as to how Mana can have such power: Either she is a higher being capable of true miracles, or she has the power to alter the future. After hearing Shinobu's explanation of both cases, Pecorine and the others learn of a group known as the Seven Crowns who are supposedly seven superhuman entities, with one of them, a woman named Neneka, being the one who predicted the attack at the mountain that Pecorine and Yuuki were involved in, citing that she claimed to be one of the Seven Crowns. Pecorine and the others also learn that Diabolos had been conducting business with her for some time now, and that she was able to decipher some of Neneka's documents, with Mana's, Christina's and Raji's names among the Seven Crowns' members. The group eventually decide to head for Neneka's research laboratory, with the members of Diabolos helping lead the way for them.

After reaching a tunnel through a warp gate, Pecorine and the others soon find themselves surrounded by monsters, which they learn are artificially made. During the skirmish, Pecorine asks for a bite from Miyako's pudding and is able to blast through the horde, allowing them to make a run for it. While traversing the underground tunnels, Pecorine and Yuuki reunite with Muimi. The whole group are informed by Muimi that the lab's main reactor is about to explode and that Neneka had already been kidnapped by the Royal Knights of Nightmare. Pecorine and the group run for it and find Raji, who is able to teleport everyone out in time as the underground tunnels cave in. In a grassy field somewhere, Pecorine and the others meet Masaki, a man who works for Neneka, and learn of what happened to her. Pecorine then follows Yuuki's decision of going with Muimi and the others to Labyrinth's hideout to meet up with Labyrista.

Chapter 8: Friends or Foes?[]

After resting at Labyrinth's hideout, Pecorine makes breakfast for everyone present. After sitting down and eating with the others, she joins the others on coming up with a plan to storm the Royal Castle to rescue Neneka. During this, Pecorine asks Christina how she knew her real name and learns that Mana had told her the truth about her identity and tasked her to assassinate her. When Muimi begins asking them about the oddities in this world, Pecorine picks up on the fact that her brain seems to always make excuses to evade such questions, in the end making her accept things as they are.

Pecorine then listens to Muimi's explanation that the world they are currently in is fake, and that their "dreams" living in a different reality is their real world. After hearing her story, Pecorine wonders if the person who altered reality was Mana which Muimi confirms, who also goes by the title "Omniscient Kaiser" of the Seven Crowns. Pecorine also learns that Muimi had worked together with Yuuki and his old companions in the past to stop Mana, but they ultimately failed and lost, with Mana standing victorious. Pecorine then happily asks if she, herself, was one of their companions, but is sad upon learning that she wasn't as Yuuki had fought side-by-side with an entirely different guild, with Pecorine growing sadder when Muimi wonders how Yuuki joined her guild instead of his old friends whose bonds she saw were unbreakable. Pecorine decides to look at the positive side of things and cheers herself up when Muimi points out that her bond with Yuuki is nevertheless real. After the discussion is over, Pecorine and the others are alerted by Raji that an army of Royal Knights from Nightmare and a swarm of monsters are waiting for them outside. Upon reaching outside, Pecorine and the others come face-to-face with none other than Karyl, who is the one leading the army against them along with Octo. Pecorine tries to persuade Karyl to come back to her senses, but her pleas fall on deaf ears as Karyl orders the knights and monsters to attack them. During the fight, Pecorine notices how odd Karyl is behaving and surmises that it must be the mask she is wearing that's making her act so ruthlessly. Avoiding her attacks, Pecorine is able to grab Karyl and remove the mask from her face. Upon getting back up, Pecorine runs towards Karyl and hugs her, happy that she is back to normal, but, to her horror, realizes that she isn't under the mask's control and is soon attacked with a high-level spell at point-blank range, incapacitating her. The unconscious Pecorine is then captured, while the others are forced to retreat.

Relationships[]

Yuuki[]

A boy she met while out in the woods and a member of her guild. While she was unable to introduce herself to him, Pecorine was able to properly do so when she and Yuuki met again in Landosol, at the restaurant she works at, though having forgotten his name. Despite this minor setback, she would treat Yuuki to a free meal as her way of saying thanks to him for helping her, becoming fast friends with him while eating together.

Pecorine would later teach him how to cook and fish and continue bonding with him during their time together. Pecorine enjoys hanging out with Yuuki, whether it's eating together or just chatting, she seems to always like being around him. When Yuuki invited her to eat at a barbecue restaurant she never knew of, Pecorine mentions that she would be setting off from Landosol again to continue her journey, but started getting a bit emotional and asked Yuuki not to forget about her.

She sees Yuuki as a reliable person and, despite his amnesia, trusts him, being the one who she asks help for in starting her own guild, even including his name as one of the first members alongside her. She occasionally makes romantic passes at Yuuki, finding his embarrassed reactions cute. Though initially joking, she admits to Yuuki that her later comments are her being serious, but never goes farther than that.

However, when Yuuki and Kokkoro come to save her from the castle dungeon, she admits while in Yuuki's arms that she is indeed in love with him, but refuses to act on her feelings due to his amnesia, believing he may possibly have a girlfriend already and will wait for when he regains his memories. Pecorine also says that if Yuuki wishes to be with her, then she would happily accept being with him.

Quotes[]

  • "Are you hungry at all? If it's okay with you, why don't we go eat together?"
  • "We need to manage our food carefully! ... Well, since I'm here, I guess we won't have any leftovers anyway, but..."
  • "My favorite foods? Hmm... I'd have to go with 'edible things,' and 'drinkable things' too!"
  • "When I'm sharing a meal with a boy, my heart races a little... Terrible, huh? ☆"
  • "The type of boy I like? ... The type that doesn't waste food!"
  • "How crazy is that!? ☆"

Trivia[]

  • Pecorine's quote 'ペコペコのペコリーヌ!' / 'Peko Peko no Pecorine' is actually a play on words with nickname. 'Peko peko' is onomatopoeia for 'hungry'.
  • Kokkoro gave her the nickname, "Pecorine" (ペコリーヌ ~ Pekori-nu) because she's always hungry. In Japanese, "'ペコペコ" (pekopeko) means "hungry" and is frequently used by children (as in "おなかペコペコ" ~ "onaka pekpeko" ~ "I'm hungry"). The relationship to pork or cheese is purely coincidental, as these don't carry over at all to the original Japanese.
  • Even in the real world, Yuuki would address her as "Pecorine" prior to the events of *Re:Dive*.
  • The continent of Astraea was named after her family.
  • Pecorine is unable to speak Japanese, and requires a MIMI Device to serve as a translator.
  • Pecorine's Princess Form also earned her the nicknames "デスティニーペコリーヌ" and "命運佩可" (Destiny Pecorine) as her wings look similar to a certain mecha from a certain robot anime when she transforms.
  • She became playable in Cygames' Granblue Fantasy crossover event: "Princess Connect Re: Dive! - Dinner at the Turned Table". She is an SSR permanently acquirable from the archived event side-story.
  • She became playable in Cygames' Dragalia Lost crossover event: "Princess Connect Re: Dive! - A Voracious Visitor". She is a permanent part of the 5* character gacha pool.
  • Pecorine's equipment (when worn) can actually convert calories into energy; this is possibly one of the reasons why Pecorine has a voracious appetite.
